Osturu is actually a female angel of death with two bodies. One is Osturu who is a good person, while the other is a mythical beast named Nanika. She is part of the Vantalamp team as the council of gods wanted to utilize the power of an ancient demon that has been with her since she was a human.

Back in the past, Osturu was born into the Imagawa family, which is the city’s noble family. As a girl, she had everything that she ever wanted. However, on her 15thbirthday, something terrifying happened. The men in her hometown were gradually being found dead each morning but few people know what was really behind this incident. It was actually caused by the daughter of the Imagawa clan leader. Every night, while Osturu sleeps, the ancient demon Nanika would be awaken to take revenge on this clan.

In the ancient records of the Imagawa family, it is said that before the birth of the demon Nanika, she was a famous geisha, but was accused by a son of the Imagawa clan that she was a murderer and was sentenced to die by execution. She died with immense hatred in her heart until her soul turned into a demon and waitedfor the time to come back and take revenge on the member of the family. Nanika escaped the capture of the Angels of Death for hundreds of years. Time passed until the daughter, who was the sole heir of the Imagawa family, turned 15. Nanika managed to take over Otsuru’s body successfully even though it was just during the brief period while Otsuru slept. Two souls were merged and take control of Otsuru’s body.

The secret could not be kept for long. The townspeople saw her as a demon and cursed the Imagawa family. Her father was eventually executed for giving birth to a demon. Otsuru herself had to flee the city.

A twist of fate leads her to meet the man whom she loved very much. But then the morning after her wedding night, she awoke with bloodstains on her hands only to find her husband as a corpse. She was very devastated and decided to kill herself.

After her death, Otsuru’s and Nanika’s bonded spirit forced them to the underworld to face their punishment. But as time passed, the desire to meet her lover grew stronger as he was now in heaven. Eventually, she successfully mastered her control over Nanika and was able to use Nanika’s power to her advantage. She used Nanika’s power to escape from the frozen prison to go to heaven to find her husband. But in the end, the plan proved unsuccessful. But the incident did not go unnoticed when the Heavenly Council became aware of the power that she could harness and asked her to be part of the Vantalamp team in exchange for the gods to help separate Nanika’s soul from hers so that she can reunite with her lover in heaven.
